Elomatic is the main partner for the pre-engineering of Metsä Group’s innovative fiber packaging factory
Metsä Group’s innovation company, Metsä Spring, has selected Elomatic as its main partner for the pre-engineering of a new type of fiber product factory. The Muoto™ packaging products manufactured in the plant serve as an alternative to plastic packaging; they are made from renewable raw material, are recyclable, and can be easily molded into various shapes.
Metsä Spring and Elomatic signed the agreement for the pre-engineering of the first commercial Muoto plant on April 29, 2024. Elomatic has a broad range of experience from similar factory investment projects, which require strong expertise and coordination in various design areas through systematic project management.
“In such a pioneering project, solid design expertise and the ability to provide sparring help are emphasized. Metsä Group’s fiber expertise is top-class worldwide, and Elomatic’s first-rate production line expertise complements it,” says Veli-Pekka Kyllönen, Project Director of Metsä Group’s pre-engineering project.
Elomatic’s service package includes the design and development of the project’s production line, internal logistics of the finished products, and packaging – covering process, layout, electricity, instrumentation, automation, HVAC, steel structures, as well as safety and environmental issues. In addition, Elomatic is responsible for the schedule and cost estimate (CAPEX) of the factory investment.
